A 75-year-old man from Għajnsielem was seriously injured in a traffic accident this morning in Xewkija.
The accident occurred at around 7:00 am on Triq l-Imġarr. Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that, for reasons yet unknown, the man lost control of his Daihatsu Terios and crashed into a wall.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, and the driver was transported by ambulance to Gozo General Hospital, where he was later certified to have suffered serious injuries and is in danger of losing his life.
Magistrate Simone Grech has appointed an inquiry. Meanwhile, police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
