Why not abolish prison and the Criminal Code right away?

The Labour government’s dismantling of rule of law and institutions has reached a point where it has now become a policy-trend among government executives. Prison Chief Chris Siegersma wants to abolish solitary confinement. This proposal may pair with his policy of providing better prison conditions to Malta’s major suspected criminals.

The Labour government has consistently passed legislation which strengthens financial crime and misconduct such as with its latest anti-money-laundering laws that have restricted the Prosecutor’s power to seize a suspect’s assets. The latest reform, which will benefit criminals, especially those in politics and government, is the reform on Magisterial Inquiries. This reform will effectively eliminate a citizen’s right to request a Magisterial Inquiry, transferring all investigative functions solely to the Police.

At this rate, we might as well abolish the criminal code and the prison system.
