Malta along with Cyprus and Sweden had the highest increase of women becoming managers in its workforce in 2023. According to the latest Eurostat figures up to 35% of all managers in the Maltese workforce are women, which is in line with the EU average at 34.8%.
Women make up to 46.5% of the EU’s total workforce with more men being employed than women. In 2023, the employment rate for men stood at 80.4 %, while for women it was 70.2 %.
The EU labour markets with the highest share of women managers are Sweden with 43.7%, Latvia with 42.9% and Poland with 42.3%. The lowest are Luxembourg with 22.2%, Croatia with 23.8% and Czech Republic with 27.4%.
The statistics have been released in anticipation of Women’s Day on March 8th.
