Industrial production rises by 3.4% in January 2025

Industrial production rose 3.4% in January 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, according to figures released by the National Statistics Office (NSO).

Annual growth was biggest in the sector of ‘other manufacturing’, rising by 12.1%. In addition, the capital goods sector saw output rise by 21.0% during the period.

Despite the month-on-month hike, there was a sharp drop in overall industrial production by 12.9% when compared with December 2024.

The Industrial Producer Price Index in January 2025 dipped by 1.3% compared to January 2024. This was primarily as a result of a decline of 4.1% in the price of intermediate goods and a decline of 2.0% in the price of capital goods. Consumer goods, however, experienced a rise in price by 0.8%.

Domestic market prices recorded a slight rise of 0.4%, while consumer goods went up by 1.2%. Non-domestic market prices, on the other hand, dropped by 3.0%, with non-euro area goods falling by 3.4% and euro area goods by 2.6%.
