A 31-year-old man from Balzan has been arrested in connection with the illegal cultivation of cannabis plants, following a series of investigations and surveillance operations conducted by the Malta Police Force.
After days of monitoring a garage in Zurrieq, police carried out a raid where they discovered a fully-equipped cannabis cultivation setup. More than 40 cannabis plants of varying sizes were seized, along with specialised equipment and several items linked to the illicit growing operation.
Magistrate Ian Farrugia was notified of the findings and appointed an inquiry into the case.
While police investigations are still ongoing, the suspect is currently being held in custody. He is expected to be arraigned in court this morning at around 11:00 am before Magistrate Lara Lanfranco.
More updates to follow as the case develops.
