A 34-year-old Nigerian man has tragically lost his life in a workplace accident at a factory located in Triq is-Santwarju tal-Ħlas, Qormi. The incident occurred on Monday around 6:00 pm, when the worker became trapped between heavy products and machinery while unloading goods inside a container.
Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene to provide assistance, but sadly, the worker was pronounced dead on site.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia has been notified and has launched an official inquiry into the incident. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing by the police in collaboration with the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) to determine the cause of the accident and assess whether any safety protocols were breached.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s name, and investigations continue to ensure accountability and improved safety standards in the workplace.
