Libyan MP who went missing resurfaces imprisoned and tortured

A video of Libyan MP, Ibrahim Al-Dersi, who went missing on the 16th of May 2024 has resurfaced of him imprisoned and in chains. He went missing in Benghazi after he visited a military parade there. The United Nations Support Mission in Libya has condemned the widespread and systematic use of torture in Libyan prisons and said it is alarmed by the recently-surfaced video.

Ibrahim Al-Dersi was arrested following his criticism of Khalifa Haftar’s rump regime in Benghazi. In a statement issued by the Internal Security Agency of Benghazi said that the video was fake and AI-generated, but multiple sources have confirmed its veracity.
