A five-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle on Sunday afternoon in Triq ic-Cern, Buġibba. The incident occurred at around 1:15pm, when the child was hit by the side mirror of a Volkswagen Polo.
Preliminary investigations by police revealed that the car was being driven by a 22-year-old man from Msida. The child sustained head injuries during the incident.
A medical team responded to the scene and administered first aid before the boy was urgently transported to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. His condition was later reported to be serious.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia has been informed and has appointed an inquiry into the case. Police investigations are ongoing.
