Historian of Malta’s banking sector, John Consiglio, passes away

John Consiglio, Malta’s foremost historian on Mata’s banking has passed away at age of 85. He started working with  Barclays Bank in 1958, and kept working for the bank after it changed to Mid-Med Bank and then also to HSBC Bank Malta.

John Consiglio researched and wrote extensively about Malta’s history on banking and has published with Midsea Books about the subject since the 1970s. His seminal and authoritative history of Malta’s banking, called A history of banking in Malta, was published in 2006 by Allied Publications.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th, at 2 pm, at the San Guzepp Haddiem parish Church in Birkirkara.
