Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati to be canonised together in September

Pope Leone XIV has announced that Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati will be canonised together on Sunday, 7th September 2025, during a joint ceremony at the Vatican.

The announcement was made today during an ordinary consistory. Acutis, originally set to be canonised in April, and Frassati, whose date was expected in August, will now be honoured together, a decision likely influenced by the death of Pope Francesco in April and the logistical challenges of hosting large summer events in Rome.

Carlo Acutis, who died in 2006 at age 15, is known for using his digital skills to spread devotion to the Eucharist. Pier Giorgio Frassati, who died in 1925 at 24, is remembered for his social activism and deep spirituality.

A second group of seven blesseds will be canonised on 19th October.
