Swieqi United have made an impressive start to their Women’s Beach Soccer League campaign, sitting comfortably at the top of the standings with a perfect 12 points from four matches.
The team showcased their attacking prowess with two emphatic victories: a 5–1 win over Zero Sei and a commanding 6–0 triumph against Lija Athletic.
Against Zero Sei, Vanessa Carneiro was the standout performer, netting a hat-trick. Valentina Cabrales Ojeda and Michela Felice also added goals to seal the win. Zero Sei’s lone goal came courtesy of Rocio Robles.
Swieqi’s dominance continued in their encounter with Lija Athletic. Carneiro struck twice, while Oriana Bedingfield, Michela Felice, Amy Abdilla, and Mari Oliveira each contributed a goal in the comprehensive 6–0 victory.
In one of the most dramatic matches of the round, St George’s and Parr Mela played out a thrilling 5–5 draw. St George’s saw braces from Shakira Bugeja and Liliana Cohete, with Edera Marmara also scoring. Parr Mela were led by a four-goal haul from Edna Vargas, with an own goal leveling the score. The deadlock required a penalty shootout, where Parr Mela edged the win 4–3.
St George’s followed up with a strong showing in their next match, comfortably defeating Zero Sei 7–1. Cherise Zammit and Laury Carrasco each netted twice, while Ilenia Navarro, Estefany Colomenarez, and Lilian Coherte also found the back of the net.
