Hat-trick victories for Aidan Buttigieg and Diana Muscat in thrilling finale

Aidan Buttigieg (Team Polti Visit Malta) and Diana Muscat (Team Greens) completed a remarkable hat-trick of wins as they claimed their third consecutive victories in the final race of the 2025 National Road Championship, held over the weekend on the 2.5 km Fleur-de-Lys circuit.

Organised by the Malta Cycling Federation, the championship is one of the country’s premier road cycling events, drawing strong participation across a range of categories. The third and final race capped off a highly competitive season, with both Buttigieg and Muscat asserting their dominance.

In the Elite Menโ€™s category, Buttigieg once again proved unstoppable in the sprint, clocking a time of 1:19:30. He narrowly edged out Jacob Schembri (Bike It Up Racing), who finished one second behind, while Mark Bonnici (The Cyclists by Agones) completed the podium at 1:19:32.

Diana Muscat extended her winning streak in the Elite Womenโ€™s race, finishing first in 48:47:49, well ahead of teammate Michelle Vella Wood (55:21:28). Jess Rymer (D Sports Lab) followed in third at 57:38:21.

  • Juniors: Ryan Gatt (The Cyclists by Agones) โ€“ 32:14:06

  • U16 Boys: Ethan Grech (Mosta CC) โ€“ 27:34:68

  • U16 Girls: Rihanna Hassan (Team Greens) โ€“ 41:35:59

  • U14 Boys: Neil Cassar (Shamrock Stars) โ€“ 16:21:29

  • U14 Girls: Nina Debono Curmi (D Sports Lab) โ€“ 18:27:91

  • U12 Boys: Kurt Grech (Mosta CC) โ€“ 10:15:44

  • U12 Girls: Valeria Barbara (The Cyclists by Agones) โ€“ 11:27:91

Youth development remained a highlight, with Team Greens and Mosta CC showcasing their strength through consistent podium finishes in the junior categories.

The National Road Championship now enters its final stage with the Time Trial Championships, set for:
