Another Labour voice opposes the proposed construction and planning bills

Edward Zammit Lewis is the second Labour Party figure following Alex Sciberras to oppose the government’s proposed construction and planning reforms. No other Labour Party MPs expressed criticism over this reform.

Edward Zammit Lewis was the only Labour Party MP who took a stand on Manoel Island. As a back-bencher, he has slowly becoming Labour’s contrarian and critical which is a rare and healthy phenomenon in our very toxic and rent-seeking political scene. Hopefully, he won’t remain alone on the Labour parliamentary group in opposing the government’s excesses.

The real test will be if Abela gives EZL a cabinet position (as he likes to do to appease opposing voices) and he (EZL) changes his stance on this and other issues.

Yet he would probably vote in favour… so makes no difference

When you lose your credibility you wonder if the criticism is genuine or if he is fishing for some position of trust in return of shutting up.
