The Malta Cycling Federation has announced the results of the 2025 National Time Trial Championships, following a weekend of competitive racing and standout performances across multiple categories.
In the Elite Menโs division, Aidan Buttigieg of Team Polti Visit Malta successfully defended his title, claiming his third consecutive national time trial championship. Buttigieg completed the series with a flawless 600-point tally, winning all three events. Luke Borg (The Cyclist by Agones) secured second place with 490 points, while John Camilleri (Bike It Up Racing) placed third on 450 points.
In the Elite Womenโs category, Michelle Vella Wood of Team Greens continued her dominance by capturing her seventh national title, finishing the series with 550 points. She was followed by Lindsey Pirotta (D Sports Lab) with 450 points, and teammate Danica Bonello Spiteri with 445 points.
Masters and youths showing prowess
The Masters 40+ category was won by Mark Zammit of Mosta Cycling Club, who retained his title with 550 points. Gesred Borg (Team Greens) finished second with 480 points, ahead of Jeffrey Borg (Mosta CC), who earned 435 points.
In the Masters 50+ division, David Cushing (Bike It Up Racing) achieved a perfect 600 points, securing the national title in dominant fashion. Teammate Kevin Muscat followed with 350 points, while Joseph Caruana (Team Greens) took third place with 305 points.
Among the juniors, Ryan Gatt (The Cyclist by Agones) topped the standings with 400 points, ahead of teammate Kai Azzopardi, who scored 200 points.
In the Under-16 boysโ category, Ethan Grech (Mosta CC) clinched the championship with the maximum 600 points. He was followed by Samwel Attard (Mosta CC, 505 points) and Aiden Muscat (Shamrock Stars SC, 175 points). In the girlsโ Under-16, Rihanna Hassan (Team Greens) earned a clean sweep with 600 points.
A wide ranging swathe of cycling competitions
The Under-14 boys champion was Neil Cassar (Shamrock Stars SC), also with a perfect 600 points. He was followed by Timothy Buttigieg Scicluna (460 points) and Matthew Agius (435 points), both of Mosta CC. In the girlsโ Under-14, Nina Debono Curmi (D Sports Lab) led with 575 points, just ahead of Katie Anne Vella Wood (Team Greens, 550 points) and Amy St John (Mosta CC, 155 points).
In the Under-12 boys division, Kurt Grech (Mosta CC) claimed the title with 600 points. Teammate Zachary Vella finished second with 490 points, followed by Ayden Vella (D Sports Lab) with 355 points. The Under-12 girlsโ title went to Zaliya Dimech (Shamrock Stars SC), who tallied 200 points.
These results reflect the depth of talent and dedication within Maltaโs cycling community, with strong showings from clubs including Mosta CC, Team Greens, Shamrock Stars SC, D Sports Lab, Bike It Up Racing, and The Cyclist by Agones.
The Malta Cycling Federation expressed its gratitude to all participating athletes, club officials, and volunteers. Special thanks were given to ARRTS Timing System for their professional race timing services, as well as to the Local Councils, Transport Malta, the Police, Emergency First Response teams, and all marshals and timekeepers who ensured the event ran smoothly.
