Ciappara wins Carmel Grech Trophy as Maltese shooters compete abroad

Anglu Ciappara emerged victorious in the Carmel Grech Trophy, held on Sunday, August 3 at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club. The event saw shooters take on 50 qualification targets, followed by a 25-target single-shot final for the top six competitors.

Ciappara won the event with a final score of 22/25. Jean Pierre Coleiro placed second after a shoot-off with Philip Camilleri, both scoring 20/25. Camilleri settled for third.

The next local event is the President’s Cup, to be held on Sunday, August 10 at the Malta National Shooting Ranges.

Meanwhile, Maltese shooters were also in action at the European Championship in Châteauroux, France, competing in individual shotgun events.

In Trap Men Junior, Nico Sciberras narrowly missed a place in the final, finishing 8th with a strong 118/125. Abiel Cassar followed with 112/125, while Ryan Bugeja hit 106/125.

In the Trap Men category, Gianluca Chetcuti posted 119/125, with James Galea Jr finishing on 109.

Skeet Men Junior competitor Andre Cassar hit 117/125 to place 16th out of 58.

In the Skeet Men event, Clive Farrugia impressed with 118/125 in his first international outing this season. Marlon Attard scored 113 and Liam Sciberras 112.
