Ex Labour Party MEP calls on the Attorney-General to resign

The ex-Labour Party MEP John Attard Montalto wrote an article in the Times of Malta calling for the Attorney-General Victoria Buttigieg to resign. He accused her of recklessness in her lack of preparations for the Vitals case and said that the Attorney-General would have had a very strong case had she done her work properly and thoroughly. The ex-MEP also referred to her the blunder with the Swiss authorities when she she sent requests for information without the prerequisite information and documentation.

John Attard Montalto rarely writes opinion pieces and hasn’t made political statements for some time. He was a close ally of Alfred Sant. This is also one of the first instances of a Labour Party source publicly supporting the prosecution and investigation on the suspects over the Vitals and the Steward Health Care frauds, after the Prime Minister and the Labour Party attacked the judiciary and defended Joseph Muscat over the investigation.
