The draws for the First Phase of the Malta FA Jubilee Cup, supported by Enemed, were held on Wednesday, 13 August 2025. They officially launched the celebrations for the Malta FA’s 125th anniversary.
The Jubilee Cup will bring together clubs from all divisions, along with teams representing member associations, in a competition designed to showcase the breadth of Maltese football.
The Draw Ceremony
The draw proceedings were conducted by Stewart Said, Malta FA Football Operations Manager. He was joined by David Carabott, the Malta National Team’s second-most capped player and a multiple domestic trophy winner.
A total of 45 teams entered the First Phase, divided into four regional groups: North, South, Gozo, and Member Associations. To balance the groups and keep each under 12 teams, both the North and South sections will begin with a Preliminary Round.
-
North Group Preliminary: Għargħur FC vs. Dingli Swallows FC.
-
South Group Preliminary: Mqabba FC vs. St George’s FC.
These matches will be played on 30 and 31 August 2025, with winners advancing to the First Phase Knockout Round.
First and Second Rounds
In the First Round, 12 teams in each of the North, South, and Gozo groups will face off for a place in the Second Round.
The Second Round will then feature three matches per group, with the winners moving on to the Second Phase.
Member Associations Path
Seven Member Associations will also compete in this edition. Their First Round consists of three matches, with one association team receiving automatic passage to the Second Round. That spot went to the representative of the Inter Amateur Soccer Competition (IASC), as determined by the draw.
Looking Ahead
Once the First Phase concludes, 10 teams will qualify for the Second Phase, where they will be joined by clubs from the Malta Premier League and the Challenge League. From there, the competition will progress toward the Final on 8 December 2025, a showpiece event marking the culmination of this milestone tournament.
