You can’t park there, Alex

ONE News has lately started a custom of profiling politicians who break traffic rules. I am happy to oblige.

I’m pretty sure Alex Agius Saliba will be fuming about this (as usual). What will likely offend his sensibilities most isn’t being shown parking illegally—a practice somewhat tolerated in Malta—but the fact that a self-proclaimed socialist is driving a German petrol car on already congested roads.

Wouldn’t it be much better if politicians made less use of their cars and used taxis instead in order to start changing the country by example?

Politicians like preaching about progressive change but are the least willing to participate in this change themselves.

Or even rode a bike? It’s not impossible. Or walked a bit.
But we can expect gridlock tomorrow.
Schools back (even if partially), buses switching schedules, a token effort Eurpean Mobility Week (did you even notice?), topped off by International Car Free Day tomorrow. Ignored for years. We might be in for a wake up call of momentous proportions.
