Announcement of new vacancy with Dar Camilleri and The Maltese Herald.
We are looking for a cultural contributor and literary critic.
Dar Camilleri is the publisher of the The Maltese Herald, which is growing at a sustainable and very gradual but progressive pace. We are crossing the rubicon from the start-up phase of cash-burn to gradually enter the phase of revenues. We are still far behind profit targets but we are confident that we will keep growing.
We are now looking for a part-time or freelance contributor for our Culture Section. The candidate should have excellent proficiency in Maltese and English. Knowledge of other languages is a plus.
The candidate has to be an avid reader and someone who is familiar with the local cultural scene. They should also be well informed of major, and foreign cultural scenes especially literature, music and film. Knowledge about theatre is also a plus.
Do you know which were the most popular books in the 20th century? Do you know why Dante and Shakespeare are important to each other? Have you ever read Maltese short-stories from the 1990s and do you know why they are particularly very important to historical milieu of Maltese literature? Can you tell the difference between an Azealia Banks tune and house music? Do you know why the HBO series “Rome” was discontinued? And who is the most highly paid actor in Hollywood right now? If you do know the answers to these questions, this job may be for you.
