The Labour government is trying to introduce press censorship over “private matters” and its MPs will be the first to cry foul when the press mentions their family members or their children, but they are the biggest advocates and proponents to use children and family members as props for their theatre of propaganda.
School-children in Cospicua are being compelled to attend a school-outing activity organised by the wife of the Prime Minister in what is a blatant abuse of power. Note that this Soviet-like political activity comes from the same Ministry of Education that forces its educators to ask for written permission before they speak in public.
There are numerous problems here and too many to list quickly. I expect the Malta Union of Teachers to address this coherently, explain why it is inappropriate for educators to mingle with politicians in this way, and emphasise that children are in state schools to learn, not to be used as political props.
