Tough week for Russian covert services as multiple European authorities push back

At the start of this week, Poland and Romania have conducted parallel operations and arrested Russian saboteurs planning attacks in the respective countries. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that up to eight individuals were arrested.

Romania’s criminal investigation department, DIICOT, also arrested at least two Ukrainian individuals linked to the Russian security services, who were planning acts of sabotage. The arrested individuals were preparing bombs that would have been sent to their targets by post. The Polish and Romanian operations were coordinated together.

The arrests follow a separate coup by Latvian police, earlier this month, who raided an online fraud and pashing and troll-farm in the capital city of Riga. The operation was coordinated via Europol who claimed that the online bot-farm had up to 49 million accounts. Up to โ‚ฌ431,000 and $333,000 in crypto were also seized.
