SOCAR still buying Russian oil at its STAR-oil refinery in Turkey

SOCAR is still buying Russian crude-oil as if it was a normal day at work at their STAR-oil refinery in the Port of Aliaga, Turkey, after the US Treasury Department sanctioned Russia’s oil giants, Lukoil and Rosneft.

Last night, the Maltese-flagged tanker Seavelvet (IMO: 9843211) was unloading oil at the STAR Oil Refinery. It initially loaded its cargo from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, and is now unloading at the SOCAR-owned oil refinery called STAR at the Aliaga port of Turkey. The oil tanker seems to be owned by a Singaporean based company called Sparkle Navigation Ltd, with the ship managed by Greek company, Thenamaris.

Also present at the STAR-oil refinery is the Liberian-flagged tanker, Tatiana (IMO 9340128), which makes several calls to the Russian port of Novorossiysk.
