According to latest statistics by Eurostat, the EU did a total of €1.44 billion in services exports in 2023. 53.5% of these exports come from large companies with 250 employees or more. Medium-sized enterprisers between 50 and 250 employees contributed 10% of the share of services exports and small enterprises of up to 49 employees contributed up to 14.2% of the services exports.
Large companies dominated in services exports in Germany (72.8%), Finland (66.7%) and Denmark at 66%. Large companies were the lowest contributors to services exports in Greece at 3.3%, Croatia at 14.7% and Estonia at 19.7%. Small enterprises made more than half of the service exports in Malta (68.4%) and Estonia (59.6%).
Foreign-controlled enterprises held the largest share of exports in 9 EU countries, with the share being highest in Luxembourg (88.6%), Ireland (79.1%) and the Netherlands (63.7%). Enterprises under domestic control accounted for most of the services exports in Denmark (70.0%), Finland (62.3%), Malta (59.8%) and France (59.3%).
