King Charles III has decreed that his brother, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor will no longer hold his royal title of Prince. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has also been expelled from the Royal Lodge in Windsor and will now live in a private residence.
Prince Andrew was previously forced to renounce his HRH titles and honours but retained his title of Prince by virtue of his family (he is the son of a previous Queen). The removal of the Prince title from Andrew Mountbatten is a very rare occurrence in the British Royalty and the last time it occurred was in 1919 when King George V stripped off the titles from two princes for being descendants of enemy countries. These were Prince Charles Edward, Duke of Albany, and Prince Ernest Augustus Duke of Cumberland; both from Germany.
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has been stripped of his royal title after Virginia Giuffre’s book, Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice, was published posthumously, and once again brought to light story of Andrew Mountbatten’s visits to Jeffrey Epstein’s island where he raped Virginia Giuffre.
