The Malta Football Referees Association (MFRA) held its Extraordinary General Meeting on Thursday, 30th October 2025, at the Centenary Hall, where Mr. Ishmael Barbara was formally elected as the new President of the Association.
Barbaraโs election follows the resignation of Mr. Trustin Farrugia Cann, who stepped down from the role after being elected Vice President of the Malta Football Association (MFA).
In a statement, the MFRA expressed its gratitude to Trustin Farrugia Cann for his years of dedicated service and leadership, which greatly contributed to the growth and professional development of refereeing in Malta. The Association also extended its congratulations to Ishmael Barbara, wishing him success as he takes on the presidency.
โThe MFRA looks forward to continuing its work in the best interests of all referees,โ the statement added, reaffirming the Associationโs commitment to supporting match officials and strengthening the refereeing community across the country.
