Nationalist Party highlights lack of investment in Saint Luke’s and Karen Grech Hospital in relation to Vitals and Steward contracts

Opposition MPs Adrian Delia and Stephen Spiteri held a press conference in front of Saint Luke’s Hospital and challenged the Prime Minister to explain where the  supposed investment to Saint Luke’s Hiospital as part of the Vitals and Steward contracts was allocated. Standing in front of the dilapidated building, Saint Luke’s, which was supposed to be upgraded by Vitals and Steward was never restored and upgraded. The Opposition spokesperson also highlighted the lack of investment in Karen Grech Hospital.

Both hospitals were supposed to receive a significant capital investment from Vitals and Steward’s which never took place. The Opposition MPs challenged the Prime Minister to explain where the money handed to Steward and Vitals had been spent.

The Prime Minister stated in a press conference yesterday that the government did not waste any money from the €400 million it gave to Steward Health Care and Vitals over eight years on the concession of the public hospitals. The Prime Minister was speaking in a press conference announcing the result of a case that the government presented at the kangaroo court of the International Chamber of Commerce.

The Opposition MPs have claimed that local matters should be adjudicated locally where transparency is guaranteed by the local Courts. They condemned the government for taking this case to an international tribunal which is private, secret and closed. They also highlighted that the local Courts already adjudicated the contracts as fraudulent.
