Former MEP and Wales Reform Party leader, Nathan Gill, sentenced to ten years in prison for Russian bribery

Nathan Gill, the former leader of the Wales branch of the Reform Party in the Untied Kingdom, has been jailed for 10.5 years for taking bribers for Russia. Nathan Gill was paid by Russia while an MEP for the UK Independence Party from the period of 2014 to 2020 to spread pro-Russian talking points at the European Parliament.

The Crown Prosecutor charged him with taking up to ยฃ40,000 in bribes when he was an MEP, from Oleg Voloshyn, a Russian who worked for Russia’s intelligence services. He pleaded guilty to the charges.

During his tenure at the European Parliament, Nathan Gill peddled pro-Russian talking points including that Europe was provoking Russia into war. He also described Ukraine as a “buffer zone”. He also campaign for Brexit.
