Police investigations into a robbery at a grocery shop have led to the arrest of a 29-year-old Ghanaian man early this morning.
The incident occurred on 29th November at around 9:30pm, when a man – allegedly armed with a knife – entered a shop in Triq il-Kbira San Ġużepp, Santa Venera and demanded money from the cashier, a 35-year-old woman from Nepal. She tried to escape, but the man reportedly held her back before fleeing with a sum of cash.
A medical team assisted the woman, who was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for observation and was certified to have suffered minor injuries.
Following intensive investigations, police managed to identify and arrest the suspect in Imġarr in recent hours. He is expected to be charged in court today at around 12:00pm, before Magistrate Astrid May Grima.
