Għajnsielem FC continued their strong form in the GFA BOV Gozo Football League 1st Division with a solid 2–0 victory over Xagħra United FC in Matchday 8 at the Gozo Stadium.
The match was decided by a brace from Ewerton Jose Spirandelli Costa, known as Tom Tom, who proved decisive for Għajnsielem. He opened the scoring on 24 minutes to give his side a deserved first-half lead. Xagħra United attempted to respond after the break, but Għajnsielem remained well-organised and in control.
The result was effectively sealed on 57 minutes when Tom Tom converted from the penalty spot, doubling the advantage and securing all three points for his team.
Referee Raiden Psaila officiated the match.

Following this result, Ghajnsielem FC move up to 15 points from seven matches, strengthening their position near the top of the table. Kercem Ajax FC remain close behind with 14 points from the same number of games, while Xewkija Tigers FC sit third on 13 points, having played one match fewer.
Qala Saints FC are fourth with 10 points from six outings, followed by SK Victoria Wanderers FC on six points after seven matches. At the lower end of the table, Nadur Youngsters FC have four points from six games, while Xaghra United FC remain bottom with three points from seven matches.
The Gozo 1st Division title race remains tightly contested as the season approaches the halfway mark.
