Malta’s Church concludes Jubilee Year 2025 with Archbishop Scicluna-led celebration on ‘Pilgrims of Hope’

The Church in Malta last evening formally concluded the Jubilee Year 2025, themed “Pilgrims of Hope”, during a liturgical celebration led by Archbishop Charles Scicluna at St Paul’s Metropolitan Cathedral in Mdina.

In his homily, Archbishop Scicluna reflected on Saint Joseph as a powerful model of trust, humility and concrete action within God’s plan. He explained that just as God chose a simple and righteous man like Saint Joseph, He continues to work through ordinary people who place their faith in Him.

Referring to the Holy Family, the Archbishop highlighted it as a guiding example for believers, particularly in moments of crisis and difficulty. He encouraged the faithful to face life’s challenges with the same spirit of trust and reliance on God demonstrated by Mary, Joseph and Jesus.

At the conclusion of the Mass, the bishops met with five new members who had been incorporated into the Society of Christian Doctrine (M.U.S.E.U.M.) the previous day, marking a significant moment for the Church community as the Jubilee Year came to a close.
