There were no major incidents or accidents during the new year in Malta. The Police set-up up to 30 checkpoints to test for drivers’ alcohol levels, stopping in total up to 700 vehicles. During the checks, police issued 100 citations, 22 charges and 6 individuals were found to have been positive.
Several individuals were charged in Court over breaches of bail conditions and also domestic violence.
