A total of 35 people were arrested during a police operation in Marsa aimed at clamping down on illegal employment and immigration abuses.
The arrests followed a series of spontaneous patrols carried out in different areas known to be frequented by individuals seeking work unlawfully, as well as inspections conducted on public transport routes. During these checks, police identified several people who did not hold a valid Maltese residence permit and were allegedly in the country for work-related purposes, in breach of immigration laws.
The Police said the operation forms part of an ongoing enforcement drive that has been underway throughout 2025 and which is expected to intensify further in the coming days and weeks as authorities step up efforts against illegal employment practices.
Officials from the Detention Services Agency assisted police officers during the operation, providing support in the identification and processing of those detained.
Police reiterated that such inspections will continue as part of wider efforts to uphold immigration regulations and address illegal work, stressing that enforcement remains a priority.
