A 52-year-old man was grievously injured following a traffic collision on Triq Tal-Barrani in Ħal Tarxien on Thursday afternoon, police said.
The police were informed of the incident at around 2.30pm. Officers immediately went to the scene, where preliminary investigations showed that a collision had occurred between a Toyota Toyoace driven by a 52-year-old man from Fgura and a Ford Focus driven by a 70-year-old man, also from Fgura.
A medical team and members of the Civil Protection Department were called to assist at the scene. An ambulance transported the 52-year-old driver to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
He was later certified as suffering from grievous injuries, police confirmed.
The other driver was not reported to have been injured.
Police investigations into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing.
