Kercem Ajax FC tightened their grip at the top of the GFA BOV Gozo Football League First Division after recording a convincing 2-0 victory over Nadur Youngsters on Friday evening at the Gozo Stadium.
The league leaders made a flying start and broke the deadlock after just six minutes when Natal Cidcley Severiano, better known as Nenem, found the back of the net to give Kercem an early advantage.
Nadurโs task became even more difficult on 16 minutes when referee Sandro Spiteri awarded a penalty to Kercem Ajax. Andre Gabriel Castro Martins stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to double his sideโs lead and put them firmly in control before the quarter-hour mark.
Despite Nadurโs attempts to respond, Kercem remained well organised at the back and managed the game effectively, limiting their opponents to very few clear-cut chances and seeing out the remainder of the match comfortably to secure three more points.
The win moves Kercem Ajax up to 23 points from 10 matches, extending their lead at the top of the standings as the title race continues to gather momentum.
