Since late 2021, this website has provided daily news, researched and investigative content.
Independent press is not profitable in many places in the world and especially in Malta – the Media Freedom Act by the EU addresses this issue among many others. However this EU directive is not yet being enforced.
We are in possession of a letter by the EU Media Board Secretariat which confirms that the Maltese government is in violation of the EU Media Freedom Act.
However, the EU has so far refused to implement measures to enforce this directive.
I have personally fulfilled my public obligations in publishing and media in Malta at a great personal expense, and I am very proud of my work. Unfortunately, I have also ignored many important aspects of my personal life due to my work including my health, my loved ones and my finances. For the moment I need to step back to address some personal challenges.
The value of our work has also been taken for granted for way too long and an absence will help renew interest and appreciation in our work.
We exist despite constant challenges and attempts to shut us down and silence us. We operate in a very hostile environment, with the State actively competing against us. We are proud of our results and look forward to publishing more content in the future.
The sports section will remain active.
