The EU forces Ukraine to re-open the Druzhba pipeline

The European Union is forcing Ukraine to re-open the Druzhba pipeline after pressure by Hungary’s President Viktor Orban who insisted that his country can not survive without Russian oil. The pipeline was re-opened despite protests by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky who said that re-opening the pipeline would be the equivalent of lifting sanctions.

Viktor Orban has blocked the โ‚ฌ90 billion EU loan to Ukraine at the European Council demanding that the pipeline is re-opened.

A team of technicians from Hungary and the EU will visit the pipeline and conduct inspections. No timeline has been provided for the re-opening of the pipeline.
