A 37-year-old Maltese man from Pembroke has been arrested following a violent altercation at an entertainment venue in St Julian’s in the early hours of this morning.
Police officers on duty in Paceville were alerted by a staff member at the establishment at around 1:00am, reporting an argument between two individuals.
Officers immediately intervened and identified the alleged aggressor, who was promptly arrested. A small pointed sharp object was also seized safely to prevent further harm.
At the same time, the second individual involved — a 32-year-old Syrian man residing in Ħaż-Żabbar — was assisted by police officers at the scene. It was discovered that he had sustained injuries to his neck, prompting an urgent call for medical assistance.
A medical team arrived shortly after, and the injured man was transported by ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was later certified as suffering from serious injuries.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia has been informed of the case and has opened an inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.
