Sirens Build Fitness produced a strong second-half comeback to defeat Neptunes BGM 14-12 in an entertaining and closely contested match in the BOV Winter League.
The match began evenly, with Sirens Build Fitness edging the first session 2-1. Neptunes responded impressively in the second quarter, taking control with a five-goal burst to lead 6-3 at half-time.
However, the momentum shifted dramatically after the break. Sirens Build Fitness came out firing in the third session, outscoring Neptunes 7-3 to overturn the deficit and take a narrow 10-9 lead heading into the final quarter.
The final session remained tightly contested, but Sirens Build Fitness maintained their edge, adding four more goals to secure a 14-12 victory.
Isiah Riolo and Andreas Galea led the scoring for the winners with four goals each, while Mattias Ortoleva and Gregory Zerafa contributed two goals apiece in a well-balanced attacking display.
For Neptunes, Stevie Camilleri stood out with three goals, supported by Max Lanzon and Mark Castillo, who both added two goals each. Despite a strong second quarter, Neptunes were unable to contain their opponents’ resurgence after the interval.
Sirens Build Fitness’ dominant third session proved decisive, as they showed resilience and composure to overturn the deficit and claim an important win in the competition.
San Ġiljan Dominate to Overpower Valletta in Winter League Clash
San Ġiljan MAA Daikin delivered a commanding performance to defeat Valletta Peak Insurance Brokers 25-9 in a one-sided encounter, underlining their attacking strength and control throughout the match.
San Ġiljan set the tone early, edging a competitive opening quarter 3-2 before taking full control in the second session. A strong offensive spell saw them stretch their lead to 8-3 by half-time, effectively putting the game beyond Valletta’s reach.
The third quarter followed a similar pattern, with San Ġiljan maintaining their intensity and extending their advantage to 15-7. By the final session, the gap widened even further as they ran riot in attack, eventually sealing a comprehensive 25-9 victory.
Matthew Zammit led the scoring for San Ġiljan with an impressive five-goal haul, while Ben Plumpton and Luigi Dimech added four goals each. Dean Bugeja also made a notable contribution with a hat-trick, as multiple players got on the scoresheet in a well-rounded team display.
For Valletta, Ken Erdogan stood out with three goals, while Max Zammit and Matthew Chircop added two goals apiece. However, they struggled to contain San Ġiljan’s relentless attacking play over the four quarters.
San Ġiljan’s dominance across all periods highlighted their depth and efficiency in front of goal, as they controlled proceedings from start to finish to secure a convincing win in the BOV Winter League.
