Football fans at Kercem Stadium were treated to an action-packed afternoon in the GFA BOV Gozo Football League 2nd Division, featuring a eleven-goal thriller followed by a dominant performance from league leaders Sannat Lions.
Gharb Rangers edge nine-goal classic against Munxar Falcons (6-5)
In one of the most entertaining matches of the season, Gharb Rangers FC narrowly defeated Munxar Falcons FC 6-5 in a dramatic encounter full of twists and goals.
Munxar opened the scoring early through Ayesller Carvalho in the 14th minute, but Gharb responded midway through the half when Luke Sultana equalised. Just four minutes later, Aud-Gustine James Obaje put Gharb ahead, only for Joey Grech to restore parity almost immediately.
The goal fest continued as Joseph George Vella and Damon Hili extended Gharbโs lead, with Obaje grabbing his second just before halftime to give Rangers a commanding 5-2 advantage.
Munxar came out fighting in the second half. Carvalho struck again in the 52nd minute before Kenneth Mizzi made it 5-4. Carvalho then completed his hat-trick on the hour mark, leveling the score at 5-5 and setting up a tense finale.
However, Gharb had the final say, as Eman Bugeja netted the decisive goal in the 67th minute to secure all three points in a thrilling contest.
Sannat Lions dominate Oratory Youths (6-0)
In the second match of the day, Sannat Lions FC delivered a commanding performance, cruising to a 6-0 victory over Oratory Youths FC.
Igor Nedeljkovic was the standout performer, scoring four goals in a clinical display. He opened the scoring in the 35th minute and doubled the lead shortly after. Keiran Calleja added a third just before halftime to put Sannat firmly in control.
Nedeljkovic completed his hat-trick early in the second half and later added a fourth, while Nicholas Grima sealed the emphatic victory with a late sixth goal.
League Standings (as of 29 March 2026)
Sannat Lions FC remain at the top of the table with 34 points from 15 matches, extending their lead with another dominant win. St Lawrence Spurs FC sit in second place with 28 points, followed by Gharb Rangers FC who climb to 24 points after their thrilling victory.
Zebbug Rovers FC remain in fourth place with 22 points, while Oratory Youths FC and Munxar Falcons FC continue to struggle at the bottom with 7 and 6 points respectively.
