Joseph Portelli, the developer and associate of Joseph Muscat, appears to be rather displeased with a satirical Instagram account mocking his construction legacy in the islands. I’m taking the liberty of reposting some of its content in case it is taken down.
The account can be found here and is called Conretelogist. Apparently, a PN politician (George Muscat) thought that the account was by the real Joseph Portelli and tried to contact him multiple ties.
What makes it particularly striking is that it showcases both Portelliโs high-profile projects, where greater attention has been paid to architectural design and also his the apartments he is building for the plebeians. The tower he built in Paceville, for instance, was designed by architect Zaha Hadid.
However, a brief look at his lower-end developments reveals a stark contrast, in which construction is clearly made with a total disregard for aesthetics and planning, with structures built as cheaply and as rudimentarily as possible. It is precisely this contrast that makes the account so uncomfortable viewing for Portelli, as it exposes the reality of developments that are often uninspiring and poorly designed, yet sold at increasingly high prices.
