Balzan FC crowned BOV Challenge League Champions after dramatic final day

Balzan FC were crowned BOV Challenge League champions after a thrilling conclusion to the season, with the title race remaining undecided until the final round of fixtures.

Heading into the decisive last day, Balzan and Swieqi United were level at the top of the standings on 45 points, while Birลผebbuฤกa St Peterโ€™s, on 43 points, still had an outside chance of lifting the title. The scenario set up a tense finale to an intensely competitive campaign.

Balzan rose to the occasion by securing a vital 2-0 victory over Melita, earning the three points needed to clinch the championship.

At the same time, title rivals Swieqi United were held to a 1-1 draw by Fgura United, a result that proved decisive and allowed Balzan to finish the season in first place.

Following the final whistle, the BOV Challenge League trophy was presented to Balzan captain and players by Bank of Valletta Chief Officer Ernest Agius and Malta Football Association Vice President Matthew Paris.

The celebrations marked a memorable achievement for the club, its players, staff and supporters after a season in which consistency and determination ultimately proved decisive.

This yearโ€™s campaign once again underlined the competitiveness of the BOV Challenge League, with the championship battle going right down to the final day before Balzan emerged as deserving winners.
