Malta suffer narrow defeat to Brazil in Women’s Water Polo World Cup Division Two

Malta suffered their first defeat in the Women’s Water Polo World Cup Division Two after going down 11-10 to Brazil in a closely contested encounter.

The Maltese side produced a spirited performance and battled strongly throughout the match, but Brazil edged the contest by the narrowest of margins.

Malta’s leading scorers were Elena Borg and Jensine Bugelli, who both found the net three times. Martha Perici Ferrante and Kendra Navarro added two goals each to complete Malta’s tally.

Brazil were led by Pereira and Calvalente, who each scored three goals. Abla and Bilaildo contributed two goals apiece, while Nascimento added one.

Despite the setback, Malta can take encouragement from a determined display against strong opposition, having pushed Brazil all the way in an entertaining and hard-fought match.
