European Parliament President gives speech at Nationalist Party rally

The European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has attended another Nationalist Party rally in Swieqi, this time also giving a speech right before the discourse of PN Leader Alex Borg. In her speech, President Metsola highlighted the growing security issues in Swieqi which, she said, were being ignored by the government. She praised the work of the local council and stated that the government needs to work more closely with local councils and involve them more in decision-making.

She urged Nationalist Party supporters not to give up hope and not to be discouraged by the Labour Partyโ€™s attacks, saying that people should always aspire for a better country and fulfil their ambitions.

Roberta Metsola also made repeated references to meritocracy, opportunity and national ambition, themes which have increasingly become central to the Nationalist Partyโ€™s electoral messaging during this campaign. She said that Malta deserves better standards in governance, infrastructure and public administration, while insisting that the country should stop settling for mediocrity and complacency.

The European Parliament President also stressed the importance of restoring trust in public institutions and said that politics should once again become a vehicle for national unity and aspiration rather than division and cynicism. During her intervention she repeatedly referred to the importance of dignity, respect and service in public life, while encouraging younger generations to participate more actively in politics and civic life.

PN Leader Alex Borg, who addressed the crowd after President Metsola, attacked the Labour government over corruption, overdevelopment, traffic congestion and the rising cost of housing. The PN Leader insisted that the Nationalist Party represents a new generation capable of modernising the country while restoring institutional credibility and economic sustainability.
