Unusual vessel detected: Malta Prosperity

A large oil tanker called the Malta Prosperity (IMO: 9389033) has been tagged in our investigations on Russian oil trading as a high risk vessel. The vessel is being described as high risk due to its lengthy times at anchorage including a long period anchored at Hurd’s Bank, without having a clear identified source of its oil cargo.

The vessel has traveled to various locations at anchorage and spent most of the months of April and May anchored at Hurd’s Bank before then heading to Sidi Kerir Terminal, Egypt where it is now located. Its unusual movements fail to explain the origin of its cargo after it spent considerable time at anchorage, especially in Hurd’s Bank.

Before anchoring in Hurd’s Bank, it anchored outside Singapore and its last port call was at Mizushima, Japan on January 30th.

The ownership of the vessel is also hidden with an unusual registered company name. The vessel is registered with a Liberian flag. It previously was named Georgias before it changed its name in 2009.
