Oil jumps two Dollars as Iran and the US exchange limited fire

Oil has jumped two dollars up to $72 today after Iran and the US exchanged limited fire and Iran fired drones at targets in Bahrain and Kuwait. The exchange of fire comes after Iran has fired at vessel’s travelling through the Strait of Hormuz.

Last week, Iran struck the Singapore-flagged cargo ship Ever Lovely, with a drone on Thursday, as it was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast. The United States said the vessel was using a route backed by Washington and its partners, while Iran has been demanding that ships follow routes approved by Tehran.

The second incident took place yesterday on Saturday, 27 June, when the Panama-flagged oil tanker Kiku was struck near the Strait of Hormuz while carrying more than two million barrels of crude oil. The vessel sustained damage, but its crew was reported safe and no pollution was immediately reported.

The US and Iran are still discussing the implementation of the MOU signed between them. The MOU provides for the free-flow of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz without tolls.

Footage below released by the US Central Command.
