A brief note on intellectual dishonesty

As a supposedly independent researcher, you should not change or modify your research to consciously and explicitly exclude people simply because you have a petty dislike of them. Ġorġ Mallia has recently authored a report to an international media organisation where he made sure to avoid mentioning The Maltese Herald, even taking our stories without writing the correct references to our sources.

This is petty and childish behaviour, but we don’t expect better from the University of Malta, which is financially incentivised to exclude the government’s harshest critics along with its own intellectual critics.

I’m not taking issue with the foreign media organisation. Foreigners may not be aware of the intricacies of local politics.

There are various academics in power at the University of Malta who are trying to erase us from history. This hurts us in the short term, but in the long term, as this behaviour accumulates, it is positioning us as a counter-intellectual movement, effectively making us the best reference point against members of institutions.

Chapeau. I am proud of what I am building, and thanks to paper, hard-discs and libraries,  our legacy will never be erased. Those who try to erase us from history are only exposing themselves as the dishonest individuals they are.
