According to the latest Eurostat figures, Malta’s retail trade volume increased by 0.6% in May compared with the previous month, exceeding the increases of 0.5% recorded across the European Union and 0.2% in the Euro area.
Compared with May 2025, Malta’s retail trade volume grew by 4.7%, more than double the annual increases of 1.9% in the EU and 1.6% in the euro area.
Meanwhile, Eurostat figures show that Malta’s services production declined by 0.4% in April compared with March, contrasting with increases of 0.3% in the EU and 0.7% in the Euro area.
Despite the monthly decline, services production in Malta remained 4.9% higher than in April 2025, significantly above the annual increase of 1.8% recorded in both the EU and the Euro area.
Across the EU, the strongest monthly growth in services production was registered in Belgium, Greece and Bulgaria, while retail trade recorded its largest monthly increases in Cyprus, Luxembourg and Poland.
