Repubblika’s monthly vigil for Daphne Caruana Galizia suspended

Repubblika has issued a press release announcing the cancellation of its monthly vigil commemorating journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia which is also usually used to call for justice for her.

The silent vigil was due to be held beside the Great Siege Monument in Valletta to mark 105 months since Caruana Galizia was assassinated.

Repubblika said it had decided to cancel the gathering following information it received concerning โ€œcertain statements made in courtโ€.

The organisation provided no further details.

The trial of Yorgen Fenech, accused of commissioning the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia is on going.

CANCELLATION

Following information we received regarding certain statements made in court, we have decided to cancel the gathering we had called, as we do every month, for a silent vigil beside the Great Siege Memorial to mark the 105th month since the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.
