A 43 year old man and his 5 year old son died tragically when their dinghy was hit by a larger fishing boat at around 4am in Gnejna Bay. The boat was driven by a 43 year old man from Rabat.
The victims have been identified as Gregory O’Brien and Logan O’Brien both from St Pauls Bay.
Civil Protection and police descended on the scene and after a search the two bodies were discovered. Both crafts were impounded by officials.
Duty magistrate Dr Joe Mifsud is conducting an inquiry into the incident. Police investigations are ongoing.
