A 73-year-old woman who had been reported missing was found dead overnight.
The police had appealed for the public’s assistance on Sunday evening in locating Susan Mary Borg, who was last seen in Mellieħa.
In a statement issued this morning, the police said that at around 12.30am, while searches for the woman were under way, a lifeless person was spotted in a rural area at the end of Triq in-Nixxiegħa, Mellieħa.
The person was later confirmed to be Susan Mary Borg, who was sadly certified dead at the scene. The involvement of third parties is being excluded.
Duty Magistrate Renata Farrugia was informed and appointed an inquiry, while police investigations are ongoing.
